    Fleetwood Mac icon Christine McVie’s auction makes over $1M for charity

    An auction of Fleetwood Mac icon Christine McVie 's items has made $1.3m (£1m) for charity.

    Over 650 of the English songwriter's belongings from her home in London went under the hammer.

    Items included stage-played instruments and outfits, awards, fine art, jewelry, memorabilia and personal mementos.

    The top selling item was one of McVie's beloved paintings that hung in her London home: an Edward Reginald Frampton piece titled "St. Cecilia" the patron saint of music. It sold for $191k (£146k).

    Other standout items were her Patek Philippe stainless steel and diamond "Aquanaut" wristwatch selling for $51k (£39k), five times its estimate, and a stage-played Hammond XK-5 Heritage Series organ which went for $52k (£40k) nearly eight times estimate.

    The two day auction event was held at The Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum at in Nashville. All the proceeds will benefit MusiCares and other charities.
