Q: If you can accomplish just one thing in office, what would it be?
A: I want every student to be successful in graduating from high school or choosing an alternative certification that leads to a career or vocation. We must continue to put resources in every school that can get our students ready to reach their potential and graduate. This starts with our early learning, before our students enter kindergarten. Working with community and business partners, resources, and mentors, our school communities will be better equipped to ensure all our students have the resources they need to be successful.
Q: What is the Leon County school district's greatest need?
A: Ensuring our students, teachers, and staff are in a safe environment where they can thrive and learn. School safety will always be a priority of mine along with ensuring every school has the resources it needs for the teachers and staff to offer the highest quality of education and extracurricular opportunities. Also, improving teacher pay, especially for our veteran teachers, so that we can retain high quality teachers, support staff, and administrators.

Q: If you can accomplish just one thing in office, what would it be?
A: Returning common sense, Leon County values, as the guiding principle of Leon County School Board decision making. Republican political action campaigns, and groups like the Moms for Liberty chapter leaders have supported my opponent's campaign vigorously, as have big-time state government lobbyists. That's troubling. Restoring the proper approach to school board governance is the issue upstream from all other issues we are seeing, whether it's safety, wages or school transportation. A major accomplishment would be re-calibrating this basic viewpoint about where power flows from locally.
Q: What is Leon County School district's greatest need?
A: The biggest need boils down to consistency in transparent communication. The lack of clear information deters parents I have spoken to from enrolling their children. A lack of communication with staff is resulting in resignations and, frankly, a significant mass exodus of educators. The lack of collaboration and communication with the city, county, and their related agencies create inefficiency, miscommunication, and a lack of follow through. The list goes on. The district should position itself to give access to information so that others with expertise and talent can support us.
