Man drives, stops at multiple locations to fire gun before law enforcement intervenes

The Leon County Sheriff's Office arrested a 19-year-old after he reportedly drove around Tallahassee to multiple locations and fired a gun.

Davonte Williams was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm in public and carrying a concealed firearm because LCSO said he is under 21 and does not fall under the Constitutional Carry statute. He is being held in the Leon County Detention Facility.

LCSO spokesperson Shonda Knight told the Tallahassee Democrat that a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a car with three men and a woman after observing him drive "extremely recklessly on Thomasville Road." Williams didn't stop.

The trooper didn't pursue him because of the traffic but kept an eye on him and watched as he turned down Hermitage Boulevard. He observed that the passengers were concerned and later told law enforcement that they asked him to slow down.

Around noon, the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received several reports of shots fired at two different locations: the intersections of Blair Stone Road and Mahan Drive and Blair Stone Road and Centerville Road.

Knight said no one was injured by the gunfire.

A heavy law enforcement presence was seen crowding the intersection of Thomasville Road and Hermitage Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. where Williams was finally stopped. Eleven marked and unmarked vehicles belonging to LCSO, FHP and the Tallahassee Police Department were on scene.
