Tallahassee may be up for a future shell-abration. Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar is looking to expand into the capital city.

According to a release on the company's website, the Wilmington, North Carolina-based oyster shack operation says Tallahassee is next on the radar for its Florida expansion with hopes of "offering a blend of indoor and outdoor dining."

The chain's other Florida locations reside in Ocala and Wesley Chapel.

“We are a coastal concept and Tallahassee is coastal adjacent,” Shuckin' Shack CEO Jonathan Weathington said in the August 12 release on the company's website. "The city’s dynamic environment makes it an ideal location for our next expansion.”

After years of looking at Tallahassee, the company says they are tonging for a franchisee to help the company expand into North Florida, with a goal of eventually opening "multiple units over a five-year period."

Representatives from Shuckin' Shack could not be immediately reached for comment Thursday on their projected plans on entering the market.

    What Shuckin' Shack offers

The seafood centric restaurant offers a "Raw Bar" which features oysters, of course, clams, a shrimp cocktail and seafood plateau (oysters , clams, shrimp cocktail, tuna tartar and crab salad). It also offer a "Steamers" and "Grilled" section as well which adds mussels and crab legs to the mix.

Entrees include shrimp and grits or a blackened shrimp alfredo.

The restaurant also offers salads and a generous range of sandwiches and wings. Seafood and chicken platters are available including "Cappy's Roast" which features a dozen oysters, a pound of shrimp, two pieces of corn, two sides of coleslaw and six hush puppies.

Sweets on the menu are seasonal and the "Shuckin Cocktails" menu features "Oyster Shooters" like the "Dawn Patrol" made with vodka, Bloody Mary mix, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish sauce and lemon juice all poured over a raw oyster in a rocks glass, as well as other corky drinks.
