This is a perfect way to start the holiday weekend with a beautiful walk outdoors in nature. It’s finally cooling off a bit and we have picked a cool shaded path. You will have the choice of 2, or 4 miles at the Beautiful Lake Overstreet Trail.

    When : 8:30 a.m. sharp, Saturday, Aug. 31

At this event, we continue our canopy series with a walk in the woods at Lake Overstreet. You will have the option of a 2- or 4-mile level walk on the top loop. If you want to see the really cool route around Lake Overstreet, you can join a group for the hilly 5.5 mile walk.

    Distance : Option of 2, 4 or 5.5 miles

Where : Lake Overstreet Trailhead at Forest Meadows parking lot

Directions to Forest Meadows Park at 4750 North Meridian Road - traveling north on Thomasville Road, go under I-10, your next light is Timberlane Road – take a left at Timberlane and go approximately 1.7 miles to the light at Meridian Road. Take a right on Meridian, go approximately 1.9 miles. You will approach a blinking crosswalk light and you will see the Forest Meadows parking lot sign on the left. This is where you will park. If you make it to Millers Landing Road, you have gone too far.

Description : There is a $2 cash entrance fee unless you have a Florida Parks Pass. This walk is an approximate 2 mile fairly level terrain loop that comes back to the entrance. We plan to walk this loop twice for 4 miles, but you will have the option to stop at 2 miles or go forward for the 4-mile walk. Or you can join the 5.5-mile group. It is not unusual to see deer and other wildlife on this walk.

We encourage walkers at all levels – We have a lead and sweep person so no one will be left behind. Afterwards we will gather to connect and share stories.

Come out, walk with us and connect! See you then.
