Every gameday, Florida A&M football fans wake on Saturday, wondering and predicting what the Rattlers will wear on the field.

Then, the Rattlers answer by arriving for kickoff outfitted in some of the best threads in college football.

That scintillating orange and the garden-fresh green with a hint of piercing white allow various combinations for FAMU every Saturday that won’t disappoint.

Most times, the Rattlers come out of the locker room styling and profiling, ready to earn a victory.

Here’s a top-five ranking of FAMU’s football combinations.

Ranking FAMU football's uniform combinations: No. 5

The orange-white-orange FAMU football threads is a staple.

For years, orange helmets were the Rattlers’ only go-to for away games before introducing white lids to the lineup in 2021.

FAMU has veered away from wearing the orange pants that read ‘STRIKE’ on a green stripe to solid orange bottoms as the Rattlers wore in their away game at Mississippi Valley last season .

It may be time to bring back a modernized look of the ‘STRIKE’ pants to add some extra pizazz to the already-nice look.

Ranking FAMU football's uniform combinations: No. 4

If there’s a way to incorporate all of FAMU’s primary colors properly, this is how it’s done.

After wearing the orange-green-orange look in the 2021 revival of the Orange Blossom Classic against Jackson State , the combo went unworn in 2022.

The Rattlers reintroduced the uniforms in their home opener victory over the West Florida Argonauts .

There shouldn’t be more gap years of the Rattlers not wearing this combo. Make it an every-year thing.

Ranking FAMU football's uniform combinations: No. 3

FAMU likes the white-green-white (with orange and green stripes) so much that the Rattlers broke their own rule of wearing the same uniform twice in the same season.

The Rattlers rocked the combination in defining moments of 2023 ― their season-opening win against Jackson State at the Orange Blossom Classic, then versus Howard in FAMU’s Celebration Bowl win to claim the Black College Football National Championship.

It’s a classic look that offers a retro vibe to the Rattlers. It was a good move for the Rattlers to revive the iconic white striped pants, similar to the ones worn during the 1978 NCAA Division I-AA Championship season .

Suppose the Rattlers return to the Celebration Bowl or even the Football Championship Subdivision title game. In that case, they should consider honoring the 1978 team by wearing the orange helmets.

More importantly, FAMU must win the trophy of whatever championship game they play to pay homage to Rudy Hubbard’s Rattlers.

Ranking FAMU football's uniform rankings: No. 2

Homecoming is the game in which everyone knows what the Rattlers will wear.

But the lack of surprise doesn’t diminish the stylishness of the beaming orange color rush uniforms.

Being on and off before, FAMU began a yearly tradition of wearing the orange-out uniforms for homecoming in 2021 when it hosted and dominated Grambling State .

Altogether, the Rattlers are 3-0 in the uniforms, adding blowout wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2022 and Prairie View A&M in 2023.

Ranking FAMU football's uniform rankings: No. 1

The white-out uniforms are always saved for FAMU’s most significant game, where it has to wear away threads.

At least, that’s how it seems.

For example, the Rattlers wore all white to Baton Rouge for their historic rivalry game with the Southern Jaguars in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, FAMU held off on the uniforms until the 2022 Florida Classic versus Bethune-Cookman. The Rattlers won all of those games.

Just imagine going into enemy territory or a vehement game, stunting on an opponent in all white.

And then leaving victorious with a clean white jersey.
