The Florida State baseball program made history Monday in day two of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Four Seminoles were selected, giving the program four picks through four rounds, five picks through seven rounds and six picks through eight rounds. All are school records.

FSU's six draft selections in the first two days of the MLB Draft were the most in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

FSU players selected Monday were designated hitter/catcher Marco Dinges (fourth round by Milwaukee); outfielder Jaime Ferrer (fourth round by Minnesota); pitcher Carson Dorsey (seventh round by Baltimore); and pitcher Gavin Adams (eighth round by Pittsburgh).

The quartet joined James Tibbs III and Cam Smith, who were taken at picks 13 and 14 overall in the first round Sunday night.

First off the board was Dinges, who was announced as a catcher despite catching only one game for the Seminoles this season. In his lone season with the program, the Tallahassee State College transfer was primarily used at designated hitter. He batted .323 with 69 RBI, the second most on the team behind James Tibbs.

Three picks later, Ferrer was selected 126th overall by the Minnesota Twins. Ferrer hit .317 with 22 home runs and 67 RBI. He also collected 11 extra-base hits.

In the seventh round, the Orioles selected the left-handed Dorsey with the 219th overall pick. The first Seminole pitcher off the board, Dorsey's selection kept a streak of an FSU pitcher being drafted in every draft since 2001.

Dorsey, a transfer from Gulf Coast State College, went 8-4 with a 4.60 ERA and 88 strikeouts in his first season at FSU.

Moved into the starting rotation in the middle of the season, the Seminoles were 9-2 in Dorsey’s 11 starts. In the postseason, the Panama City native was at his best. He went 3-0 with a 2.14 ERA and 20 strikeouts with wins against Stetson, UConn and, in the College World Series, against Virginia.

Fellow Seminole pitcher Adams was selected in the eighth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates at pick 234. Adams did not play this due to arm surgery. A transfer from Indian River State College, Adams was selected in the 11th round of the 2023 draft before electing to attend FSU.
