Report: Big Ten Conference, SEC have no interest in adding Florida State

Even if Florida State and Clemson win their legal cases against the ACC, it appears that neither the Big Ten Conference or the SEC have interest in adding Florida State and paving the way for both schools to eventually end up in the Big 12.

Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported that both schools are “unlikely” to earn invites from the Big Ten or ACC almost solely based on fears of future litigation.

From McMurphy: “Three SEC presidents recently told Action Network they had “no interest” in adding Florida State. It takes 12 of the 16 SEC presidents to favor adding another school. The Big Ten also is not interested in the Seminoles, sources said.”

Florida State and Clemson are suing the ACC over what would be an exit fee of $130 million were they to leave the conference before 2036.

The Big 12 currently has 16 teams after adding eight teams over the last two years, including Pac-12 Conference exports Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah in 2024.
