More caffeine in the capital: Foxtail Coffee Co. slated to open in SoMo Walls

An Orlando-based coffee shop, Foxtail Coffee Co., is continuing to fuel the city's caffeine craze as another new tenant in SoMo Walls, the new development on South Monroe Street.

According to the SoMo Walls Instagram page, the craft coffee shop is slated to open at the end of the year.

Operating since 2016 across Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Nevada, the chain adds another offering to the south side's anticipated dining and retail destination.

One user on the social media Facebook food group Tallahassee Foodies commented: "I went there a lot when I lived in Sanford (close to Orlando) and it is so good! I lived minutes away from one and I went there so much. I’m excited they are coming to Tally."

A representative of the chain could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.

What to expect

Foxtail Coffee Co. features a rustic decor and offers a range of cozy, spiced drinks and handheld treats, as featured on their menu. The options range from brews to teas, espresso, sandwiches, baked goods, gelato and affogato.

Classic cold brews include the vanilla caramel flavored drink or the house-made "Guava Cardamom" with vanilla and guava cold foam to top.

Teas include matcha lattes, raspberry rose tea, lavender coconut and Florida chai tea.

Its seasonal menu adds a tasty twist to the list of offerings. This season's flavors include a spiced guava chai shaker made with "spiced Florida chai with a twist of guava, condensed milk and a dash of cinnamon," according to its website.

Foxtail Coffee Co. joins a number of coffee outlets that have recently opened in the capital: Argonaut Coffee across from Cascades Park, 7 Brew on North Monroe Street, Red Owl on Mahan Drive near Magnolia Drive (with another location proposed for Bannerman Road), and a Dutch Bros. Coffee slated for West Tennessee Street.

Foxtail Coffee will join SoMo Walls anchor tenants The Monroe, a fine-dining eatery opening Aug. 2, as well as Walls Distilling Co., a distillery aiming to open soon, and Burn Boot Camp, a fitness facility which is kicking off July 21.
