Florida State football's Joshua Farmer thinks Seminoles will make the playoffs this season

Joshua Farmer reads offenses, not fortunes, but the Florida State defensive linemen said he knows one thing to be true.

FSU football will be in the inaugural 12-team college football playoff this season.

Farmer made his future prediction to the media at the ACC Kickoff on Monday, feeling this year's Seminoles team has what it takes to compete in the playoffs.

Discussing the now-infamous "snub " from the final four-team playoff, Farmer said he knows FSU will go on a run this season. He said what happened last season has motivated him and his Seminole teammates as the season kickoff in Dublin, Ireland against Georgia Tech nears.

"Yeah, we pretty pissed off. I think we deserved to be there last year," Farmer said. "That's in the past and everything happens for a reason. I'm just happy to be here today and do it again, show the world why we should be there."

Farmer was a key player for Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell last season, with the junior posting 32 tackles and five sacks. Now, as the program looks to defend its ACC title, Farmer thinks the key for the program is to stick to standards set by the coaching staff.

"The standard is the best," Farmer said. "Being our best every day. Even when things get hard, hiding them and putting your feelings to the side, getting the job done and just trying to be your best."

Joshua Farmer ready to share the field with Darrell Jackson again

Darrell Jackson had to wait until the Orange Bowl to make his season debut for the Seminoles last season after a denied transfer wavier forced the defensive linemen to miss the entire regular season.

While the Orange Bowl against Georiga didn't go as planned, Jackson is set to shine this season for FSU alongside his high school teammate Farmer.

The duo were stars for Gadsden County High School , and both have gone on to the college level, with Jackson initially going to the University of Maryland and then transferring to the University of Miami, before joining the Seminoles. Farmer was Norvell's first recruit to commit and has been with the program since then.

Farmer said he hopes to replicate the same success that he and Jackson had at the preps level on the big stage for FSU.

"I'm excited to have Darrell back," Farmer said. "The last time we played, we had eight shutouts, so we're going to try to do that again this year."

Jackson won't be the only big addition to the defensive scheme, as FSU recruited heavily in the transfer portal to retool a star-studded defense from last season. Farmer said he expects a similar level of success defensively from last season, and he is helping the new faces adapt to the program.

"Showing them the standard. We went 13-0 last year. Whatever we did last year worked," Farmer said. "Just helping them when the days get tough, things get hard, show them we all went through it, it's only good to make them stronger. Getting them on the same page as us."
