Impress Your Date at Morgan’s Cove – a Tampa Bay Pirate Speakeasy

    By Lindsay Block,

    2024-08-06

Step into the world of pirates with Tampa Bay’s newest speakeasy, Morgan’s Cove. Nestled in downtown Tampa near Yeoman’s Cask, you’ll find yourself entranced by the bar’s cozy atmosphere and unique décor – so well done you’ll feel like a pirate yourself!

Tampa Bay is home to Gasparilla and so much pirate lure that it’s high time a pirate-themed spot be added to our lineup of Tampa area speakeasies .

Come along with us on date night to see what to expect and how to plan ahead!

What to Expect at Morgan’s Cove

At Morgan’s Cove , you’ll find a lengthy list of alcoholic drinks ranging from mild to strongest. They also have a well-stocked list of local brews and mocktails. The bar has a small list of appetizers for you to share.

Because this is a speakeasy, the bar is meant to feel small and intimate – a perfect place for date night!

When you arrive, you’ll look for a wooden door with a red light. Then you’ll find the entrance on the right-hand side where you’ll be greeted by a host. You’ll likely have to wait because this is such a hot spot.

Enter through a bookcase and immediately find yourself immersed in an underwater environment.

As you round the corner, the space opens up and you’ll feel like you stepped back in time. There are tables and couches, or you can sit up at the bar. Light background music can be heard at the perfect level making it possible to carry on date night conversation.

Intricate carvings on the walls add to the immersion while nautical items like fish nets and whale skeletons hang from the ceiling.

Food and Drinks at Morgan’s Cove

The food and drinks both range from about $10 to $18. With rum drinks to tequila to gin there is definitely something for everyone!

Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the following as the top drinks. If you’re unsure, you can tell the server what you’re in the mood for and they can help you choose.

    Top Drinks:

    • Pandan-Killer
    • Zombie Stronger
    • Hurricane
    • Jet Pilot
    • Grog
    • Cucumber Valiant

We ordered the Pandan-Killer (a take on the painkiller), the Saturn, the Espresso Old Fashioned (but made with rum rather than whiskey) and a local strawberry milkshake sour beer. You truly can’t go wrong with their selection! They also have five appetizers to share that all look scrumptious.
