Former Lightning Forward Claimed By Sharks

On Tuesday, the New York Rangers made a big move, placing forward Barclay Goodrow on waivers. Now, the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward is officially on the move, as he has been claimed off waivers by the San Jose Sharks.

Goodrow, 31, spent the first six seasons of his NHL career with the Sharks. However, his initial stint in San Jose ended when the Lightning acquired him at the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline. From there, Goodrow would, of course, win two Stanley Cups with Tampa before signing with the Rangers during the 2021 NHL Offseason.

With the Sharks bringing back Goodrow, he is set to be a big leader in their room as they continue their rebuild. When noting that he has plenty of experience and wore the "A" with the Rangers, he should be a great mentor to the club's younger players.

In the end, both teams benefit from this. The Rangers freed up $3.64 million of cap space and are now in a position to do some spending. Meanwhile, the Sharks are bringing back a familiar face who will improve their bottom six.
