Earlier this offseason, Steven Stamkos' legendary run with the Tampa Bay Lightning came to an end. After hitting the free-agent market, Stamkos signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Nashville Predators. With this move, the Lightning are now embarking on a new chapter in their franchise history.

While the Lightning landed a big-time star in Jake Guentzel this offseason, it does not take away the sting of losing Stamkos. The 2008 first-overall pick is one of the greatest players in franchise history and is still a very impactful forward at this juncture of his career.

Stamkos appeared in 79 games this past season with the Lightning, posting 40 goals and 81 points. With numbers like these, it is apparent that the Markham, Ontario native is still a star in the NHL, and he should be a massive addition to the Predators' lineup because of it.

When looking at the Predators' roster, it is clear that Stamkos will be a crucial part of their top six and power play. This remains the case whether he sticks on the wing or moves back to the center position. In either scenario, Stamkos will be put in a position to succeed with the Predators, and he has the potential to produce strong offensive totals yet again because of it.

Stamkos now also has the grand opportunity to be a prominent leader for the Predators as they look to cement themselves as genuine contenders. After adding Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei this summer, they undoubtedly look like a more significant threat heading into 2024-25.

Nevertheless, seeing how Stamkos performs with the Predators from here will be intriguing. While there is no question that it would have been amazing for Stamkos to finish his career in Tampa, he may have found a great fit for himself in Nashville.
