Tampa General to use ‘substantial’ donation for new colorectal cancer center

A “substantial” donation to Tampa General Hospital’s foundation from a local businessman and his family will be used to pay for a new colorectal cancer center at the TGH Cancer Institute, hospital officials said Monday.

Hospital representatives declined to reveal the size of the donation offered by philanthropists and local business leaders John and Susan Sykes.

The center’s focus will to be provide high-level patient care for treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer, the fourth most common form of the disease in the United States.
