Rays’ Josh Lowe has a very good reason to feel better about things

ST. PETERSBURG — Josh Lowe’s improved hitting has been noteworthy, with the potential for a strong finish allowing him to feel better about a trying season.

But there is a bigger and much more important reason for his better spirits — an encouraging update on the battle his mother, Wendy, is having with brain cancer.

“Family is everything to me, as it is to a lot of people,” Lowe said before Tuesday’s game.
