TAMPA — Todd Bowles may appear pretty stoic on the sideline, something that animates his detractors.

But the Bucs head coach deliberately tamps down his emotions on game day so his team will remain composed.

On Wednesday, Bowles was asked what, despite his placid appearance, opening day is like for him after more than 35 years as a player or coach.

Bowles silently stared straight ahead for a couple seconds before pounding the lectern with both hands while yelling, “It’s exciting!”
