Loved ones of Sept. 11, 2001, victims will once again gather in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93.
As the sun sets, the Tribute in Light will return to the Manhattan skyline, memorializing the fallen Twin Towers. Twin beams of light reach up to four miles into the sky, echoing the shape and orientation of the Twin Towers. A similar tribute will also be held in light beams locally, in Palm Harbor on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are planning to travel to the three sites of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to mark the 23rd anniversary of the tragedy that killed nearly 3,000 people.
You can watch the morning’s ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York, which begins at 8:40 a.m. Monday and will be livestreamed at 911memorial.org/live.
