Man charged with running over, killing protected bird on Redington Shores

A 37-year-old man is accused of running over and killing a young royal tern, a protected bird, while riding an electric scooter on Redington Shores.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Vitaliy Kravchenko, 37, on Aug. 30 on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals, a third-degree felony. Kravchenko was also cited for driving a vehicle on the beach, according to court records.
