    Now a Padre, Jason Adam is Rays’ nominee for Roberto Clemente Award

    PHILADELPHIA — Since a late-July trade Jason Adam pitches for the Padres, but the Rays decided to stick with him as their nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, one of Major League Baseball’s most prestigious honors.

    Adam was chosen by Rays officials for the time he spent with youths who made weekly visits to home games, some in sports programs for special needs and others dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

    The Rays also noted his work with the Reading with the Rays youth education program, time spent volunteering at Ronald McDonald Houses and attending the Voices of Hope for Aphasia “Word Play” crossword...
