Hurricane Francine forecast to strengthen before hitting Louisiana

Hurricane Francine gained strength overnight and is forecast to become a Category 2 hurricane before striking the Louisiana coast today, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of the NHC’s 5 a.m. advisory, the center of Francine was located about 245 miles southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana, with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph and moving northeast at 10 mph.
