    Rays’ Edwin Uceta suspended 3 games, Kevin Cash 1 in Philly fallout

    PHILADELPHIA — Rays reliever Edwin Uceta is being suspended three games for hitting Philadelphia’s Nick Castellanos in Tuesday’s game.

    Major League Baseball determined Uceta was intentionally throwing at Castellanos during the eighth inning, which led to a benches-clearing tussle. Uceta was ejected from the game and also will be fined.

    He has the right to appeal the suspension, and if he does so it will be held in abeyance until a hearing.

    Rays manager Kevin Cash was suspended for Wednesday’s game, which is customary when a pitcher is cited for intentionally throwing at a batter.
