Tampa Bay Sun sustain first setback, falling to Brooklyn FC

TAMPA — Some members of the Tampa Bay Sun welcomed a familiar face back to town Saturday night.

But the result was anything but welcome, as the professional women’s soccer team lost for the first time in its inaugural USL Super League season.

Former USF goalkeeper Sydney Martinez stopped every shot she faced, as Brooklyn FC shut out the Sun 1-0 at Riverfront Stadium on the campus of Blake High School.

Martinez previously under Sun coach Denise Schilte-Brown at USF.
