St Petersburg’s 400 Central condo tops out at 515 feet

The Residences at 400 Central, an office and condominium tower under construction in downtown St. Petersburg, has officially reached its top height, making it the tallest building in the city and the tallest residential building on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The 46-story building now stands at about 515-feet high. A crew of more than 700 workers is helping build the tower.

The developer, New York-based Red Apple, celebrated the construction milestone at a ceremony on Tuesday attended by St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch and other local officials.

“It’s going to be the empire of St. Petersburg,” John Catsimatidis Sr., founder of Red Apple, said at the event.

Once completed, the building will feature 301 condos, 60,000 square feet of retail space and 4,500 square feet of office space. The top floor will be used as an observatory exclusively for residents.

Condos start at $1 million.
