    ST. PETERSBURG — Several years ago, Sheila Graham hosted a party at her Magnolia Heights house. Her guests gathered around the mound in the backyard, pried open the hefty metal door and headed into a pit of darkness.

    They took turns tottering down the narrow stairs, clutching a rope for balance.
