Severe weather expected in Tampa Bay ahead of potential tropical system

A tropical disturbance in the Caribbean Sea is becoming more organized and has a higher chance of forming into a depression or storm over the next few days, forecasters said Monday.

Federal meteorologists are watching a broad area of low pressure located over the northwestern Caribbean. The system is expected to move north across the eastern Gulf of Mexico later this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
