Richie Palacios to rejoin Rays vs. Tigers; Austin Shenton sent down

When the Rays traded Randy Arozarena to Seattle a couple of days before the July 30 deadline, the plan was for Richie Palacios, who had been serving in somewhat of a utility role, to have a big part in filling the void in leftfield.

But those plans were foiled just days later, as Palacios sprained his right knee on an awkward head-first slide during an attempt to steal second base July 31 against Miami and ended up on the injured list.

Nearly two months later, the lefty swinger is ready to return, activated Monday.
