Tampa and St. Pete-Clearwater airports announce closures due to Hurricane Helene

Travels, take note. Hurricane Helene might have messed up your flight plans.

Tampa International Airport and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport have announced upcoming closures ahead of the storm.

Tampa International Airport is closing at 2 a.m. Thursday and will reopen “when safe to do so,” according to a social media post. Here is a list of airlines and contact information.

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, which is in a mandatory evacuation zone, will also be closed Thursday. It plans to reopen Friday, depending on the impact of the storm.

While both airports will operate as scheduled Wednesday, travelers are encouraged to check with individual airlines for updates.
