How Florida Democrats lost Florida — and how they can get it back

TAMPA — Terri Bieberbach felt her knees wobbling. She clutched her iPhone in front of her face and heard a beep signaling that someone somewhere in Florida had answered her call.

“Hi, this is Terri from the Harris-Walz campaign,” Bieberbach said, sounding less nervous than she felt. “Can we count on you in November?”

Laughter boomed from her speakerphone so loudly that other volunteers glanced over.
