    A blob of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf of Mexico could bring heavy rain to the Tampa Bay area next week.

    The biggest questions for Tampa Bay residents: How much rain will fall, and will that overwhelm areas flooded during Hurricane Helene and with debris still clogging drainage systems?

    The National Hurricane Center said the large area of low pressure will likely develop over the Gulf by early next week, however the system is expected to meet a rough environment, hindering further development into a tropical system.
