Add the Yankees to the pro sports teams that have donated to the Hurricane Helene relief and recovery efforts.

In addition to a $1 million donation to the overall American Red Cross effort, the team’s Tampa Foundation donated an additional $250,000 targeted specifically to provide assistance in the state of Florida.

Tampa serves as home base for the Yankees’ minor-league spring training operations, as well as home to the Steinbrenner family that owns the team.

“As the magnitude of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene continues to be revealed, the entire Yankees organization extends its deepest sympathies to all those impacted by the storm,” Yankees general partner / vice chairperson Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal said in a statement.

“We also offer our profound appreciation and gratitude to the Red Cross and the many other community groups and ordinary citizens who have worked tirelessly on Helene-related rescue and humanitarian efforts.”

The Lightning, Bucs, Rays and Rowdies also have made donations to various Helene relief and recovery causes.
