    Food, FEMA, WiFi: Where to find resources after Hurricane Milton

    Hurricane Milton is marching closer, promising to leave devastation in its wake. But help is here.

    The Tampa Bay Times will be regularly updating this list of ways for residents to find up-to-date-information on everything from road closures to power outages, plus where to find food, WiFi, support and more.

    Power outages

    Duke Energy’s outage map is available here.

    Tampa Electric’s outage map is available here.

    Road closures

    Flooded streets: The city of Tampa has a citizen-reported street flooding map.

    FEMA

    To apply for individual assistance through FEMA, call (800) 621-3362. Here’s a guide to applying for FEMA aid.

    Food and water

    To find a food pantry or a food distribution event, visit feedingtampabay.org or text FTBFYI to (833) 530-3663.

    Shelters

    For the latest information on shelter availability statewide, visit: floridadisaster.org/shelters.

    Debris and cleanup

    For assistance with clean up, call the Hurricane Crisis Clean Up Hotline at (844) 965-1386.

    Mental health

    Need help? If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide or in a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or chat with someone online at 988lifeline.org.

    Trained counselors are also available to talk via the Disaster Distress Helpline at (800) 985-5990. The line is open 24 hours a day, with multilingual options. Text “talkwithus” to 66746 (use “hablanos” for Spanish). Deaf and hard-of-hearing ASL callers can text or call the helpline at 800-985-5590 using their preferred Relay provider.

    Fraud

    WiFi

    Spectrum said it’s keeping open thousands of WiFi hotspots, available to all users, around the Tampa Bay area and the rest of the state. Here’s a map of hotspot sites. To connect your device, the company said, look for the “SpectrumWiFi” network.

    Hotlines

    Tampa: The city’s Emergency Hotline is open now until 10 p.m. at 833-872-4636.

    Pinellas County: Visit pinellas.gov/emergency-assistance/ or call (727) 464-4333.
