A 19-year-old man is facing a murder charge after police say he killed his mother’s boyfriend after an argument in St. Petersburg on Thursday afternoon.

About 3:45 p.m., officers were called to a suspicious death at a home on the 3000 block of 51st Avenue South, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found Otis Moore, 54, dead inside the home.

Police said Moore had blunt force trauma to his upper body and no one else was home at the time.

Investigators determined that Moore lived in the house with his girlfriend and her son, Jha’Quel Maynor, who killed him after the two got into an argument, the news release states.

Maynor was booked at the Pinellas County Jail on a first-degree murder charge early Friday morning. No further information was immediately available.
