They have to be happy about their season even after falling to the Detroit Lions 31-23. Baker should definitely get a long term contract after winning the division and playing great in the playoffs.</p><p>Head coach Todd Bowles however, is getting ripped on social media for not calling a timeout late in the game to possibly give the Buccaneers the ball back with 30 seconds left. It seemed like he thought the game was over even though Jared Goff kneeled the ball down early with 30 plus seconds left. If they use that timeout who knows what would have happened.</p><h2>Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coach Gives Bizarre Explanation for Not Calling Timeout</h2><p>This horrific display of coaching did not get enough attention yesterday as there was so much amazing football on display, but this is one of the worst no calls from a coach in recent memory. it appeared that Bowles simply gave on the game or did not understand that calling a timeout would have made things more interesting.</p><p>If the Bucs call a timeout there, then that forces the Lions to either kick a deep field goal or punt the ball back to them with 30 plus seconds left in the game. Goff also made a huge mistake by snapping the ball early as if the Bucs did not have a timeout left. That last few seconds of the game was filled with colossal errors by both Goff and Bowles.</p><p>There has not been a single good explination from either party as to why they did what they did. If your Jared Goff you need to let that clock run all the way down, but with snapping that ball so early it makes no sense at all why Bowles would not call that timeout. He simply gave up or had no understanding of the situation.</p><h2>Todd Bowles Is Not Getting The Heat He Deserves</h2><p>Bowles explanation for why he did not call timeout made no sense at all. He was quoted in his post game conference saying:</p><blockquote><p>“They already had a field goal lined up and there would’ve been about 12 seconds left on the clock to end the ball game, and we weren’t going to come back from that,” Bowles told reporters postgame. “No sense in prolonging the obvious.”</p></blockquote><p>First of all where does he get 12 seconds left? That makes no sense at all in the first place, but even if you only have 12 seconds left like he said, why wouldn’t you at least try? This is the NFL playoffs you don’t just give up when there is even a slight chance of winning.</p><p>He was further quoted saying:</p><blockquote><p>“They were in field-goal range, would have had 12 seconds calculated after using that timeout to come back from it, then we would’ve been down 11 points,” Bowles told beat reporters. “It’s kind of pointless. You kind of know when the game is over, and the game was over.”</p></blockquote><p>Bowles clearly did not understand the situation. There would have been much more than 12 seconds on the clock and if they miss that field goal you have a real chance to win that game.
