The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a depth move, re-signing forward Gabriel Fortier to a one-year, two-way contract.

Fortier, 24, was selected by the Lightning with the 59th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, the Montreal native is still trying to cement himself a permanent place on the Lightning's NHL roster.

Fortier spent the entirety of this season down in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. In 62 regular-season games with the AHL squad, he had 13 goals and 26 points. It was a solid year for the 5-foot-10 forward, but he stepped up his game even further in the playoffs, recording one goal and five points in nine games.

Fortier will now look to compete for a spot in the Lightning's bottom six for next season. At worst, he should continue to be a nice part of the Crunch's lineup and a call-up candidate.

In 11 career games with the Bolts, Fortier has one goal and a minus-2 rating.
