Lightning Defender Wants to Join Senators

Calvin de Haan is one of the several Tampa Bay Lightning players who can hit the market on July 1. Given Tampa's limited cap space and the club still needing to re-sign Steven Stamkos, it seems likely that the left-shot defenseman will become a free agent next week.
It appears that de Haan has a potential landing spot on his wish list if he does in fact hit the market.
When X user @MimmoD7 argued that the Senators should add more steady defensemen instead of focusing on goaltending, de Haan made it clear that he would be interested in becoming a Senator.
In addition, de Haan made his case by saying this: "My underlying numbers were steady last season."
de Haan, 33, grew up in the Ottawa area, so it is not too surprising that he would love the chance to play for his childhood team. It is also possible that the Senators could be open to signing him to an affordable short-term deal, as it's no secret that they need more experienced defensive depth.
If the Senators landed de Haan, he could be a good addition to their bottom pairing or work well as their seventh defenseman. He has value being a dependable shutdown defender.
In 59 games this past season with the Lightning, de Haan posted three goals, 10 points, 82 blocks, and 96 hits.
