Hillsborough deputies investigate fatal Tampa shooting

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found fatally shot in Tampa Monday evening.

Deputies responded to a 911 call saying someone had been shot near the 5800 block of North Cameron Ave, in the Pinecrest West Park neighborhood, according to a news release from the agency. When deputies arrived about 6 p.m., they found a man with an upper body gunshot wound.

The man died at the scene. The sheriff’s office has not released his name.

“After this tragic loss of life, our detectives are relentlessly working to uncover the events that led to this fatal shooting,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We urge anyone with information about the circumstances leading to this individual’s death to contact our detectives immediately.”
