TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — You may need to find a new temporary route to get to Interstate 275 from West Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa.

North Howard Avenue between West Kennedy Boulevard and West Figg Street is scheduled to close for several weeks beginning Monday, July 15.

If you’ve ever driven around there you know it can be a bumpy ride with many potholes.

Over the next three weeks, Hillsborough County leaders will aim to enhance transportation mobility and increase safety on this portion of the road.

This is part of a resurfacing project that stretches to West St. Louis Street near Columbus Drive.

Several pedestrian safety improvements are being implemented like sidewalk repairs and more flashy signs for pedestrians to signal when they cross the street.

They’re called rectangular rapid flashing beacons and will be installed on all of these streets:

    • West Gray Street
    • West Cass Street
    • West Spruce Street
    • West Cherry Street
    • West Palmetto Street
    • West Beach Street

If you pass through the area on Monday morning, you might run into construction workers. Detour signs should go up when they start work.
