Lightning Superstar Goalie Should Bounce Back

The 2023-24 season was a tough one for Tampa Bay Lightning superstar goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. In 52 regular-season games, the 29-year-old posted a 30-20-2 record, a 2.90 goals-against average, and a .900 save percentage. While he was still solid, he was not near his typical Vezina Trophy-caliber self.

While it was a down year for Vasilevskiy's standards, he should bounce back in a big way for the Lightning next season. It is important to remember that the 2012 first-round pick had surgery last offseason and did not return to action until late November. Naturally, he had to shake off some rust.

When looking at Vasilevskiy's outstanding resume, it is hard to believe that he will put together a similar season to his 2023-24 campaign. In every season of his NHL career besides last year, he posted at least a .910 save percentage. That includes just back in 2022-23 when he had a 34-22-4 record and a .915 save percentage.

Vasilevskiy is one of the best goalies in the world, and he should get back to that level next season. After all, he has a Vezina trophy, a Conn Smythe Trophy, and two Stanley Cups on his resume. In addition, he is a five-time All-Star.

It will now be intriguing to see what kind of season Vasilevskiy puts together in 2024-25.
