If you're going to absorb some interesting historical facts about Tampa, you might as well do it on a full stomach.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25 from noon-2 p.m., Yacht Starship’s new Craft riverboat and dining experience teams up with the Tampa Bay History center for their first information-filled, waterfront lunch. Award-winning local historian Rodney Kite-Powell
will offer historical tidbits of the city as the boat and its hungry passengers cruise down the Hillsborough River.

“From tales of Henry Plant’s railroad to the evolution of Hillsborough County, Rodney's narration promises to be both enlightening and entertaining,” event organizers write online. “This is more than just a river cruise; it's a journey through time, bringing the vibrant history of Tampa Bay to life.”

Tickets for indoor, outdoor or bow and stern bar seating all cost $89.85 per person, which includes a three-course meal from a prix fixe menu and a two-hour cruise through downtown Tampa. Craft cocktails will be available for purchase. [event-1] Craft’s Executive Chef Allison Beasman has prepared a menu of olive oil-marinated sheep and goat cheese with pisto and pine nuts to start, the choice of a filet mignon or jumbo shrimp salad as an entree, and a dessert that’s yet to be finalized.

Craft made its inaugural cruise on the Hillsborough River earlier this year, and is marketed as “America’s first open kitchen concept with gas cooking equipment on a river cruiser.” The unique boat is designed for passage beneath low bridges, offering a full food and drink menu in addition to its waterfront views. Craft hosts lunch, brunch and dinner cruises six days a week.
