TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The potholes in Tampa are always a hot topic of conversation, and this summer a rugged road is finally getting fixed.

However, some business owners are frustrated that the closure is hurting their bottom line.

Hillsborough County posted an alert online about the improvement on North Howard Avenue from West Kennedy Boulevard to West St. Louis Street near Columbus Drive.

“The closure is necessary for the full depth reconstruction and repaving on North Howard Avenue between West Kennedy Boulevard and West Fig Street,” according to the alert.

However, some are staying patient knowing the project is long overdue.

“The worst part for me were the three consecutive holes in a row,” Ally Tufaro said. “You were dodging holes and dodging cars. You can’t enjoy a nice little cruise down the road.”

County officials say notifications were posted on social media along with signage on Kennedy Boulevard.

However, it could be several more weeks before the project is complete.
