Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has been a model of consistency since entering the league in 2014. He’s the record holder for most consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons to start a career, with 10 straight. Even as he has approached the dreaded “30-year-old cliff”, Evans has managed to maintain his numbers. In fact, in Evans’ age 30 season last year, he put up his best season since 2016, coming up with over 1200 yards and leading the league in receiving touchdowns.

It’s that consistency that has earned Evans a spot on 33rd Team’s “ Top 20 players over 30 ” list, put together by former NFL GM Jeff Diamond. Evans just misses out on the top 5 of the list, coming in at number 6. Entering last season, some questioned how productive Evans could be with former Browns , Panthers , and Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield at the helm, but he seems to have revitalized Evans’ career.

Evans now has a chance to tie a record held by arguably the greatest wide receiver to ever don a uniform, Jerry Rice. With 1,000 or more yards this season, Evans will tie Rice’s record for most consecutive seasons with over 1,000 yards at 11.

While Evans may not have ever been the clear-cut best receiver in the NFL during any of his individual seasons, the body of work Evans has put up makes it clear he has been one of the best, most consistent players to ever play. We don’t know when the end will come for Evans, but he doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. When it does come, surely his next stop will be the Hall of Fame. The only question is whether voters will look at his resume and see a player worthy of making it on the first ballot.
