Stormy evening along our coast

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Today the heat was searing, with heat index temperatures between 100°-110°. we saw afternoon thunderstorms build in our southern & inland counties.

The robust thunderstorms will drift west-northwestward towards our coastline, making for a significant round of storms in our coastal counties between 7-9 p.m. Gusty winds and minor, temporary flooding are the primary concerns within the stronger storms.

An uptick in tropical moisture Tuesday and Wednesday will lead to an increased coverage of storms in the afternoon and evening hours.

Temperatures will still be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s. Rain chances return to normal for the end of the week with a 40 to 50% coverage of storms each day.

The tropics remain quiet for now with no activity expected to develop over the next 7 days.
