(MA) Meet Winks, an adorable and incredibly strong puppy with a heartbreaking origin. Winks was found unmoving on the side of a road with severe injuries. He had several very infected wounds and was barely holding on when his rescuers rushed him to the vet. Once there, x-rays revealed the horrifying truth that Winks had been shot numerous times around his face and neck. These injuries resulted in him having his eye removed. Despite that, Winks has made a miraculous and full recovery. He certainly does not let his handicap slow him down at his new foster home. Winks was truly given a second chance at life, and now all he needs is a family to call his own.

Humidity levels have been creeping higher since Saturday and we are going to be back in the soup for today as well as the week ahead. We will also be dealing with a series of waves moving around the Bermuda high. It is building into the Southeastern US. A southwest flow aloft is bringing up ripples in the flow. A stream of tropical moisture and a slow-moving frontal boundary are expected to produce periods of heavy rainfall from South Carolina into the Northeast through the first half of the weekend.

The National Hurricane Center had been tracking an area of low pressure as it swirled off the southeastern U.S. coast for possible tropical development.

Friday started somewhat gloomy with a mostly cloudy to overcast sky in many locations. Scattered showers and a few storms were in the mix too. Additional showers and storms form Friday afternoon, and linger into Friday evening. Rain coverage remains higher than a usual July day. Although, there some locations may remain rain-free. Although this front is keeping temperatures mild for summertime, this upper-level disturbance is packing a ton of moisture with it. Unfortunately, due to a large area of high pressure in the Atlantic Ocean, this area of disturbance is not expected to move for the next several days, bringing rounds and rounds of showers and thunderstorms. The good news of this high-pressure system is that it keeps tropical weather activity at bay.
