Lightning Could Be Match for Ex-Senators Forward

The Tampa Bay Lightning would be wise to add to their forward depth before the start of the 2024-25 season. With the club having limited cap space, they will need to look for bargain options instead of big-name forwards.

The free-agent market still has some decent options available for the taking. One intriguing player who could be a solid fit with the Lightning is winger Dominik Kubalik.

Kubalik, 28, is coming off a down season with the Ottawa Senators, posting 11 goals and four assists in 74 games. While his numbers dropped this past campaign, there is reason to believe he could bounce back in 2024-25 if given the chance.

Just back in 2022-23 with the Detroit Red Wings, Kubalik recorded 20 goals and 45 points in 81 games. He also posted at least 15 goals and 32 points in each of his first four seasons in the NHL, so he can produce when playing at his best. Perhaps joining a talented club like the Lightning could help him return to that level.

When looking at the Lightning’s roster, it’s clear that Kubalik would give them another option for their middle six. In addition, due to his offensive skill, he would potentially be a fit on their power play as well if he bounced back.

On a cheap one-year deal or even a PTO, Kubalik is a player who the Lightning should be keeping an eye on.
