TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa Mayor Jane Castor announced Tuesday that she is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher in this upcoming election & I’m excited to endorse VP Harris,” Castor wrote on X , formerly known as Twitter. “The Biden Harris Administration has delivered on major Tampa infrastructure projects and I know that will continue in a Harris Administration.”

Castor’s endorsement comes as an Associated Press survey of delegates found that enough of them support Harris, making her the frontrunner for the Democratic Party’s nominee ahead of the Democratic National Convention.

Harris, who has not yet selected a running mate , quickly received endorsements from members of the House and Senate after President Joe Biden announced he would be ending his re-election bid. Biden also endorsed Harris.

“VP Harris will put our community first,” Castor wrote.

Tampa Bay-area Congresswoman Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) also threw her support behind Harris on Sunday after Biden’s announcement.
