Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is eyeing a Hall of Famer's record heading into this upcoming season.

Evans has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for 10 consecutive seasons. If he hits this figure again in 2024, he will tie HOF WR Jerry Rice's all-time record.

"I don't, like, list off things, but that's one of them that's in the back of my mind because everybody's talking about it," Evans said of Rice's mark in a Wednesday news conference ."That's been a record around for how many years now? Over 20 years? So, that's something I definitely want to accomplish, and just help the team win ball games and be better than we were last year."

Evans, who turns 31 in August, hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. In 17 games last season, the five-time Pro Bowler recorded 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and tied for the league lead in touchdown catches (13) .

Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield is entering his second season with the club. He and Evans should develop more chemistry in 2024, helping the veteran pass-catcher reach his goal.

After Dave Canales accepted the Carolina Panthers head-coaching job, the Buccaneers hired Liam Coen as offensive coordinator. Evans indicated he will remain productive in the new system.

"It's a lot more movement, so defenses can't just sit there and know what we're doing," he said. "It's gonna be a lot of moving, a lot of eye candy. That's gonna help me and our team a lot."

Rice set the record when he starred for the San Francisco 49ers from 1986-96, playing with HOF QBs Joe Montana and Steve Young. Although Evans played with Tom Brady for three seasons, he hasn't benefited from elite QB play for most of his career.

He has caught passes from multiple offensive signal-callers, including Josh McCown, Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick. That makes his streak even more impressive and shows why he could eventually join Rice in Canton, Ohio, whether he ties his record or not.
