3-year-old hit and killed by vehicle while riding bicycle: HCSO

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is investigating a deadly vehicle versus pedestrian crash in Tampa.

HCSO said a 3-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle on Thursday evening while riding a bicycle and playing with his siblings. The child's mother was reportedly not far behind.

Deputies responded to reports of a toddler that was hit by a car near the 7500 block of Pitch Pine Circle in Tampa just before 7 p.m.

The driver, a male, was in a Toyota Rav 4 driving through a condo complex and stayed at the scene. He is not facing any criminal charges.

No further information was immediately available and the investigation is still ongoing.

The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice removed TrueCore from a five-year, $31.5 million contract after a girl died at Lake Academy. Some call for contractors to be removed from other facilities after other incidents.
