Tutty Frutty: Happiness tastes like a ‘Cholado’ | Val’s Food Truck Fiesta

Tampa, FLA. (WFLA) – It’s a family-run operation at Tutty Frutty . Maritza Gonzalez, along with her husband and two daughters have mastered the tropical dessert arena for over a year now.

“We realized that there were tons of places to eat food, but it wasn’t easy to find a food truck with sweets,” Gonzalez said.

That’s when they decided to bring the Colombian ‘Cholado’ to Tampa. A Cholado is a symphony of flavors in a cup. Think of fruit salad, meets slushy, meets ice cream combo.

First, fruits, such as, kiwi, strawberries and frozen mango. Then, add the shaved ice drenched in sweet mango pulp, with a generous drizzle of condense milk for that extra creamy touch. For the final step, a sprinkle of shredded cheese.

“It’s an explosion of flavors for your mouth,” said Gonazalez. “Our goal is for customers to have a unique and unforgettable experience.”

It’s a colorful masterpiece that’s just as fun to look at as it is to taste it. And so far, it seems like the community is loving this delicious and refreshing treat.

“We’ve heard from the reviews that they like it very much. It’s a new thing that they’ve tried, but they seem to enjoy it a lot,” said Mariana Rivera.

Cholados are very popular in Colombia, especially on hot days. Everyone makes them a little different. Tutty Frutty adds a scoop of ice cream to add a distinctive flair.

“Something that is really cool about this is that we add cheese, yes cheese! I know that is kind of weird but in Colombia we love cheese, so it tastes different. I can’t explain it you have to try it” added Valentina Rivera.
