Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mikey Eyssimont was a feel-good story from the club's 2023-24 season. The Littleton, Colorado native broke out in a big way for the Lightning, setting new career highs with 11 goals, 14 assists, 25 points, and 135 hits in 81 games. With numbers like these, he cemented himself as a key player in the Lightning's lineup.

While Eyssimont had a career year for the Lightning in 2023-24, there is apparent reason to believe that he could hit another level next season. Although he has made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last four seasons, this was the first campaign where he spent the entirety of the year in the NHL. Thus, now that he is more adjusted to the sport's most competitive league, he could take another step forward in his development in 2024-25.

Eyssimont also has the potential to compete for a bigger role next season. When looking at the Lightning's current forward group, there is a top-six spot on the wing up for grabs. Given Eyssimont's strong 2023-24 season, he should garner some consideration for it. In addition, Eyssimont is very likely to get power-play time, which should boost his stats.

Overall, Eyssimont showed good promise last season. The potential for him to take another big step is there, and it will be interesting to see if he does. It would not be particularly surprising if he set new career highs in the process.
