CARROLL COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office ( CCSO ) said a man was killed and several people were injured after a road rage incident escalated to a shooting in Taneytown on the Fourth of July.

The Sheriff’s Office said their investigation revealed that a road rage incident started on Route 140 between a pickup truck and a car. The vehicles followed each other and eventually stopped at the intersection of Bear Run Road and Runnymede Road. That’s when several people got out of the car and started fighting, said deputies.

During the fight, a third car, a jeep, arrived and someone started shooting.

According to the CCSO, three men were hit by gunfire. Two men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit were investigating to determine the actions of each person and the charges.

As of Friday night, no charges were filed.
